Farmer’s Protests Update NewZ

Farmers demand the dismissal of the official responsible for ordering lathi charge and ₹25 Lakh compensation to the next of kin of the farmer who died due to injuries sustained during the police action

Farmers’ unions threaten to lay indefinite seige to Karnal mini- Secretariat in case their demands were not met by 6 September

The police disrupted and caused mayhem during a peaceful protest. No action has been taken against the SDM who ordered the lathi charge. Haryana government led by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar of BJP is not taking any accountability. Chief Minister has accused the Punjab government of instigating the farmers and is only passing the blame around. Evidence has shown that the injuries sustained by the farmers are worse than what the government and media are portraying. BJP government is causing strategic chaos and abusing its power by manipulating the media to display their party as the picture of innocence. Haryana Congress is putting pressure on the judiciary to look into the Karnal protests more thoroughly. The farmers have stated that “if the officer who gave the orders is not being held fully responsible then the orders came from some other authority”. Hinting that this was an order directly from the state government. I do not have any doubts that it was an order from the BJP government in the hopes that farmers would turn violent and lash out. I am glad that the farmers’ unions are handling everything maturely and that now the BJP can not berate them for being ‘politically influenced extremists.
